Obama and communism…is there a connection?

I’ve only started reading this, but I’m posting these here so I can find them later…
Seems the “Frank” character mentioned in Obama’s Dreams of My Father book is a pinko:
(Obama’s reference…. bottom of p. 4 in this doc….) http://www.usasurvival.org/docs/hawaii-obama.pdf
Who knows if any of this has any true or real relevance….but it only takes reading about the first 6 pages of the above posted document to see that maybe it should be researched more….and Obama should be asked some tough questions. One thing we do know is that the guy (Davis) is a quack….and Obama did talk about him in his book, and Obama did attend socialist rallies…so it would seem that at least this guy (in conjunction with other radicals in Obama’s life) have attributed to his own extreme-leftist leanings.
Ironic for a man who sure tries to make himself come off as conservative.
My one last NObama hurrah…Christians, are you paying attention?
You know, what encourages me most about this election is that it is not a landslide for Obama. That tells you that there are a lot of us who have not bowed down to the media slant towards him. (And I for one, am not discouraged….the fat lady has not sung yet!) At any rate, I’ve been meaning to post more about him on here, but I’ve actually been writing a lot of it on Facebook.
At any rate, if this doesn’t make a person get off their butts and stand up against this crap then I give up. (well, okay, not really, but I will tell you if the Fairness Doctrine passes…which Obama says he’s against…but all his cohorts are for and he’s NEVER voted against his party…this kind of video will be taken off the internet…

I’m done. Between this and Obama’s 100% extreme-leftist leaning record, his questionable connections to NUMEROUS characters of which he has LIED about…Ayres, Wright, Resko for a few examples… I AM DONE.

Obama’s moving tax threshold….he’s trying to keep us guessing..
One of the things I’ve seen at Republican rallies is that people just don’t believe Barack Obama when he says he’ll raise taxes only on those who make more than $250,000 a year. It’s not that these people make that much money or even think they’ll make that much money sometime in the next four years. It’s that they believe Obama, once in office, would lower the threshold and raise taxes on people who make less than $250,000.
Obama’s position in the past was that he would raise taxes on families making more than $250,000 a year and individuals making more than $200,000. But in his new ad, “Defining Moment,” he seems to lower it to $200,000 for families. “Here’s what I’ll do as president,” Obama says in the ad. “To deal with our current emergency I’ll launch a rescue plan for the middle class That begins with a tax cut for 95 percent of working Americans. If you have a job, pay taxes and make less than $200,000 a year, you’ll get a tax cut.” That seems kind of ambiguous, but the graphic on the screen says clearly: “Famlies making less than $200,000 get tax cut.” Now, the McCain campaign is pointing out something that Joe Biden said in a Pennsylvania TV interview yesterday:
What we’re saying is that $87 billion tax break doesn’t need to go to people making an average of 1.4 million, it should go like it used to. It should go to middle class people — people making under $150,000 a year.”
This morning, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, McCain started pushing hard:
Senator Obama has made a lot of promises. First he said people making less than 250,000 dollars would benefit from his plan, then this weekend he announced in an ad that if you’re a family making less than 200,000 dollars you’ll benefit — but yesterday, right here in Pennsylvania, Senator Biden said tax relief should only go to “middle class people — people making under 150,000 dollars a year.” It’s interesting how their definition of rich has a way of creeping down. At this rate, it won’t be long before Senator Obama is right back to his vote that Americans making just 42,000 dollars a year should get a tax increase. We can’t let that happen.
———————-
Barack Obama voted twice in favor of Democrats’ FY 2009 Budget Resolution that would raise taxes on those making just $42,000 A Year. (S. Con. Res. 70, CQ Vote #85: Adopted 51-44: R 2-43; D 47-1; I 2-0, 3/14/08, Obama Voted Yea; S. Con. Res. 70, CQ Vote #142: Adopted 48- 45: R 2- 44; D 44- 1; I 2-0, 6/4/08, Obama Voted Yea)
FactCheck.org: The Budget Resolution Would Have Allowed Most Of The Provisions Of The 2001 And 2003 Tax Cuts To Expire, Effectively Raising Taxes On Those Making $41,500 In Total Income. “What Obama voted for was a budget resolution that would have allowed most of the provisions of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts to expire. In particular, the resolution would allow the 25 percent tax bracket to return to its pre-2001 level of 28 percent. That bracket kicks in at $32,550 for an individual or $65,100 for a married couple. … But as those of you who have filled out a 1040 know, that’s not actually how income taxes work. We don’t pay taxes on our total earnings; we pay them based on our ‘taxable income.’ The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center’s Eric Toder told FactCheck.org that ‘people with taxable income of $32,000 would have a total income greater than that.’ In 2008, anyone filing taxes with single status would be entitled to a standard deduction of $5,450, as well as a personal exemption of $3,500. So to have a taxable income high enough to reach the 25 percent bracket, an individual would need to earn at least $41,500 in total income, while a married couple would need a combined income of at least $83,000.” (“The $32,000 Question,” FactCheck.org, http://www.factcheck.org, 7/8/08)
Obama Campaign: Barack Obama Voted For A Budget Resolution That Wouldn’t Have Increased Taxes For Any Taxpayers Making Less Than $41,500. ROSEN: “Campaign aides to Senator Obama today, called the charge that he voted for tax hikes on people making only $32,000 a year, quote, ‘bogus.’ They circulated an analysis stating that the resolution that Obama had voted for would not have increase taxes on single taxpayer making less than $41,500 a year in total income.” (Fox News’ “America’s Election Headquarters,” 7/30/08)
The New York Times: Barack Obama’s “Vote Was On A Budget Resolution To Raise Taxes On People Making $41,500 A Year.” “FactCheck.org, a nonpartisan Web site, said the vote was on a budget resolution to raise taxes on people making $41,500 a year; the $32,000 figure, it said, was the amount of taxable income those people had.” (Michael Cooper, “McCain Goes Negative, Worrying Some In GOP,” The New York Times, 7/30/08)
So….where does the truth lie in the midst of all the lies? it’s a needle in a haystack and I bet Biden doesn’t even know where it is….as long as it’s under his salary, LOL….
Obama —”the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties…
In an interview with a Chicago public radio station, Obama said, “If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights movement and its litigation strategy in the court. I think where it succeeded was to invest formal rights in previously dispossessed people, so that now I would have the right to vote. I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order as long as I could pay for it I’d be OK.“But, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties.
“Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that.”
(audio interview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iivL4c_3pck)
WHAT HE FORGETS is that our country’s success and individual success is NOT dictated by the government…(actually, it’s the opposite…) I just heard an audio of Obama talking about how he wants the government to ensure everyone’s opportunity for success–think it was the Joe the Plumber clip or another one. How is this even possible? Success comes from hard work, not government handouts. He mentions by making opportunities for people to work, but what about those that DON’T WANT TO WORK? Oh, you can be he’ll “ensure their success” by making those of us that do work pay for theirs….ha ha ha…”share the wealth” folks…
I’m ashamed of this country for posing such a man for office in this nation. Shame on Obama and shame on him for dragging our Constitution through the mud.
Our nation has become a bunch of selfish self-entitlement brats. (Not everyone…just a lot of people…so nobody get mad, alright?) Tom was telling me about a quote the other day…something about how Democracy dies when people realize they can vote for their bread.
SO TRUE.
Now I think I need to go get a cup of coffee….lol…
BTW, I promised (myself) that I would not say bad things about Obama. Truth be told, I cannot speak for him or his heart or where he stands with the Lord….but there is a difference between saying bad things and saying what he said and pointing out what’s wrong with it. I don’t get how he can believe he’s a Christian and yet vote for the most anti-God things in our country. (Nobody has explained that to me either…) However, I digress from that…I just think he doesn’t tell the truth about much of anything….
Now, I have to post this for anyone interested…
http://www.stoptheaclu.com/archives/2008/10/27/note-about-obama-from-a-black-christian/
It’s been circulating around and while I think the guy is wrong on the statements he makes on the economy, I do find he makes some valid points in there. And for those that say abortion is not the only issue, of course it’s not. But it’s an important issue and how he expresses that (I think) is straight-on. His comments on the economy however, leave one to think we have a choice in voting for the pro-life guy or the guy who has the answers to the economy. Well, as posted above, I hope that you all realize Obama has no answers to the economy except those that will promote socialism (no matter how much he wants to deny it, an apple is an apple whether it’s green or red!) But more on that later…basically, you’ve all heard that…his whole “spread the wealth” comment….which no matter how much the media wants to spin it, sounds like socialism to a whole lot of a lot of us out here.
What’s equally as scary as Obama getting in office is a Democrat Supermajority….that is for another day, but those two words together give me the shivers. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and Obama….wow….

Felons get the right to vote! Terrorists can be tried in civilian courts! Bye bye Free Speech, welcome Fairness Doctrine! Hello more taxes! Whatever the majority wants, the majority gets. So you all out there thinking Obama is so hot to trot, look at how the Democrats have voted and see if it aligns with YOUR values…not just your values as a Christian but as an American.
Sigh…now for that coffee…
ah-HA! caught you again, you liberal media…

Why am I not surprised? Anything they can do to stir up more hatred towards conservatives…
No folks, sadly you won’t hear about this anywhere except online and the radio…journalism is dead in this country.
(And okay, yes I stole that line, but it really is true…)
and herin lies the fundamental difference between left and right-wingers…
From the Tax Policy Center at http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/url.cfm?ID=411750
Both John McCain and Barack Obama have proposed tax plans that would substantially increase the national debt over the next ten years, according to a newly updated analysis by the non-partisan Tax Policy Center. Compared to current law, TPC estimates the Obama plan would cut taxes by $2.9 trillion from 2009-2018. McCain would reduce taxes by nearly $4.2 trillion. Obama would give larger tax cuts to low- and moderate-income households and pay some of the cost by raising taxes on high-income taxpayers. In contrast, McCain would cut taxes across the board and give the biggest cuts to the highest-income households.
The biggest problem I see with this is this: since it’s a well-known fact that the top income-earners in this country actually pay most of the country’s taxes (and about 30% don’t pay any) is Obama then going to GIVE those bottom non-taxpayers free money?
Free money from the government! No wonder they want him in office. Meanwhile folks like the rest of us (at least everyone I know, since I don’t really know anyone on either extreme end of the spectrum) are caught in the middle.
Personally I have a huge problem with the whole “fairness” ideal and I’m not even rich. Well, not rich in the American sense of the word. We struggle every month with paying the bills and meeting the needs of our kids and everything else…and I don’t carry Coach purses or have DVR. I have my own business that I work my butt off for and my husband works his off at his job too.
I know, I know, I’m forgetting the rhetoric…only if you make MORE than $250,000 will you get an increase! Well good grief…shucks, by golly, give me my $1000 tax cut…it’s okay if you tax my hubby’s employer to the point that next year he doesn’t have a job! I got me a tax credit!
YIPPEE.
This is the man people expect to unify our nation…
(Barack Obama in Dreams from My Father)
“The emotions between the races could never be pure. Even love was tarnished by the desire to find in the other some element that was missing in ourselves. Whether we sought out our demons or our salvation, the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart.
well, well, well….
Nice” move Obama….you have the opportunity to show that you are willing to roll up your sleeves and get dirty and you back out. (Oh, and I caught the little dig towards McCain that he’s not “multi-tasking” like you are….)
McCain just announced that he’s suspending his campaign to work on this housing crisis. Obama said that he’s going to go ahead and show up for the debate Friday night–saying that he can do both tasks at once. (I forgot his nickname is Apollo or Messiah or whatever it is now…of course he can do everything!)
What one analyst called (sorry, can’t remember his name) a “potential Pearl Harbor housing crisis” Obama responds by backing out of doing his job AS A SENATOR. This guy thinks he’s God’s gift to the American presidency and he’s not even in the White House.
What I find EVEN MORE INTERESTING is that Obama just got done saying “it doesn’t matter who caused the crisis, it’s not a Democrat or Republican issue, it’s an American issue….”
WRONG MISTER…it may be an American issue NOW, but it was caused by YOUR PARTY.
Just remember that folks….would you like to see the government handling YOUR life and death matters as well?
BY THE WAY…Dingy Harry (Harry Reid) apparently called McCain and told him there’s nothing he can do…BUT, just yesterday there was doubt about if the issue could even be resolved without him there, which is why he put everything on hold. Never mind that the president is talking about this tonight as well….there’s a lot going on right now, and you know the Democrats never have a problem taking off for vacation and skipping putting in that extra bit to resolve something. (Just remembering the situation where they left and a lot of military folks were stranded without pay/funding because they decided to hit the beach….)
Go figure…I betcha Dingy H made that call 30 seconds after Obama announced he’s still going to focus on the debate.
Some links on some things:
Obama and Fannie Mae:
Senator Obama talks a tough game on the financial markets but the facts tell a different story. He took more money from Fannie and Freddie than any Senator but the Democratic chairman of the committee that regulates them. He put Fannie Mae’s CEO who helped create this disaster in charge of finding his Vice President. Fannie’s former General Counsel is a senior advisor to his campaign. Whose side do you think he is on? When I pushed legislation to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Senator Obama was silent. He didn’t lift a hand to avert this crisis. While the leaders of Fannie and Freddie were lining the pockets of his campaign, they were sowing the seeds of the financial crisis we see today and enriching themselves with millions of dollars in payments. That’s not change, that’s what’s broken in Washington.

Obama on Iraq:
On Monday, in an opinion piece published in the New York Post, I suggested that Senator Barack Obama had urged Iraqi leaders to postpone making an agreement with the United States until there was a new administration in Washington.
I said this because Obama himself had said it.
In an interview broadcast by NBC on June 16, 2008, Obama said that he had told Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari that “the Congress should be involved in any negotiations regarding the Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq” and “suggested it may be better to wait until the next administration to negotiate such an agreement.”
I said it because Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari said it.

Obama lies/racist attacks/housing crisis involvement; and other stuff….
I know it’s a lot to cover, but it’s important (and yes my formatting is jacked, but some of it is on purpose). I’ve highlighted certain things in yellow to skim through…
There’s another topic I want to talk about and that is the growing hatred (which is magnifying by leaps and bounds DAILY) for conservatives. You can see it in the disgusting attacks on Sarah Palin:(one of which is two posts down from this…)
(1) NBC’s SNL skit that joked about her husband “doing” their daughters, and being LAUGHED at by the media….
(2) Sarah Bernhard’s comment on Palin being “gang-raped” by black men in Manhattan….
(3) “Metro State College is investigating a professor who asked students to write an essay critical of Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin. One student said the instructor singled out Republican students in the class and allowed others to ridicule them.”
(links to sources are numbered and at the very bottom of this post…)
You know, in everything there is a message–even if it’s meant to be a joke. It’s been more than obvious that the mainstream media worships Obama (as we all saw them just shy of bowing down and worshipping him at DNC ’08, with their chanting for “CHANGE!”…)
The message that these so-called “comedians” are trying to get at is to DIG at Palin and DIG at her family and DIG at the values that she represents…which represent quite a few of us in this country, I’ll dare say.
Now….back to Obama and his racial tirades and lies.
BTW,, Obama is out there telling people (saw this with my own eyes, a video clip of him saying this) that his support is coming from people like “you and me” out there with our contributions of $10 or $50 or $100….
YEAH RIGHT. Uh….he forgot to tell you (all the while, criticizing McCain, who received far LESS…less than half what Obama received) of his campaign money totaling nearly $3 million from Wall Street.

————————-
NOW: I’m sure you’ve all heard about how Obama is advertising how racist Rush Limbaugh is and how he hates Mexicans. This has gone too far folks….
The ads running are in Spanish and full of outright lies. I heard the original audio from which one of the clips was taken where Rush was purported to have said to Mexicans to “shut your mouth or get out”….
The sad sick irony of this is that Rush (in that segment of the show, which was aired approx. 2 years ago) was giving a LISTING of what MEXICAN law is….basically that Mexico has this attitude if you don’t like them you can “shut up and get out.”
On his Wednesday radio program, Limbaugh successfully proved that his words were wildly taken out of context. As to the “shut up and get out” quote, when Limbaugh said this line he was saying it in context of the immigration laws that Mexico has in its own country for foreigners wishing to live in Mexico. Mexico’s immigration laws are very strict and, as Limbaugh said, if you don’t like Mexican laws you can “shut up and get out” as far as Mexican officials are concerned. Limbaugh did not say that Mexicans here in the U.S. should “shut up and get out” if they don’t like our laws and that is the context in which Obama campaign was using this Limbaugh quote.
There is more on this here, and I HIGHLY suggest you read it because for one thing, not only does it tell you the truth of the context (again, which you can listen to for yourself online on Rush’s site) but ALSO (and even more to the point I’m trying to make) it also tells you how the media didn’t even try to correct the lie. Only a couple sources did….

ANOTHER TIDBIT:
ALSO…I’ve heard quite a few clips of Obama saying “well he doesn’t look like the rest of the guys on the dollar bill”……obviously he’s trying to play the race card to guilt people into voting for him. Give me a break. The guy is more fraud than fraud itself…
WHICH LEADS ME TO MY FINAL TOPIC OF THE DAY:
All of you who own houses who have lost their equity? You have the Democrats to thank for that. Sorry, but facts are facts guys. This whole housing crisis thing is NOT the fault of the “lack of regulation” like Obama would like you to believe. No….
(4)In 1977, Carter, along with a Democrat Congress, created a worthy project with noble intentions — the Community Reinvestment Act. Over strong industry objections, it mandated that all banks meet the credit needs of their entire communities.
In 1995, President Clinton imposed even stronger regulations and performance tests that coerced banks to substantially increase loans to low-income, poverty-area borrowers or face fines or possible restrictions on expansion. These revisions allowed for securitization of CRA loans containing subprime mortgages.
By 1997, good loans were bundled with poor ones and sold as prime packages to institutions here and abroad. That shifted risk from the loan originators, freeing banks to begin pyramiding and make more of these profitable subprime products.
Under two young, well-intended presidents, therefore, big-government plans and mandates played a significant role in the current subprime mortgage mess and its catastrophic consequences for the U.S. and international economies.
Hardest-hit by the mortgage foreclosures have been the citizens that Democrats always claim to help most — inner-city residents who fell victim to low or no down payment schemes, unexpected adjustable rates, deceptive loan applications and commission-hungry salespeople.
Now we’re having to bail out at huge cost Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the very agencies that were supposed to stabilize the system. In time, this should improve the situation. But the party of Carter and Clinton that midwifed our mortgage mess now wants to be trusted to take over and have the government run our entire system of health care!
Now, guess who is one of the top recipients here of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac moolah?
Well, look for yourself….(and read this while you’re at it…)
http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/07/top-senate-recipients-of-fanni.html
Also…
RUSH: Robert B. Reich on the MSNBC last night slips up here and tells the truth that Democrats and Greenspan were responsible for the experiment that gave houses to people who cannot afford them. Question: “Were conservative Democrats part of the problem here?”
REICH: “In the latter years of the Clinton administration — when I was not there any longer, I should add — there was an attempt by Alan Greenspan and Bob Rubin and a few others to deregulate financial markets, and they did. They split commercial banking off from investment banking. And many people say, “Well, that was the beginning of the problem,” and then, of course, in 2003-2004, Alan Greenspan reduced short-term interest rates to the point where every single bank wanted to lend money. I mean, if you could stand up straight you could get a bank loan because there was so much pressure to get that money out the door. Money was so cheap. So, yes, there is some responsibility on Democrats, some responsibility on Alan Greenspan and the Fed.”
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_091608/content/01125109.guest.html
You know, America is IN this rut because of the government folks. And that is where I will end this long long long post. (It’s taken me 3 days to get this all out…) But I’m sick and tired of Democrats b****ing and moaning and yet THEY are the ones who brought this on all of us because of their “fairness” ideology that says everyone should be able to have what his or her neighbor has…including houses. And thank you very much but now my friends and I who work VERY HARD for our families, to provide for them and provide food and shelter for them are the ones who will end up paying. At a time when the economy is already suffering and families are struggling, we get to pay extra when those top recipients sit on top of their fat pocketbooks. (Disclaimer…I am not knowledgeable about ALL the ins and outs of this, it’s a very complex issue, but the jist of it that I do get is that it goes back to this simple ideology that has failed in countries all around the world…) that said….
JUST REMEMBER THESE THINGS COME VOTING TIME. And remember that Biden thinks it’s patriotic to pay more taxes (see the very end of this post). Yep, pay more taxes for the mess that THEY caused.
All I gotta say is if those two bozos are elected, we get everything we deserve. Don’t get me wrong…I don’t like some Republicans either. They’ve strayed too far from conservatism, which is why the party is such a mess…but that’s another topic for another time.

MORE B.O. VOTING STUFF:
Voted NO on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax.
Amendment would accommodate the full repeal of the Alternative Minimum Tax, preventing 23 million families and individuals from being subject to the AMT in 2007, and millions of families and individuals in subsequent years.
Voted NO on raising estate tax exemption to $5 million.
An amendment to raise the death tax exemption to $5 million; reducing the maximum death tax rate to 35%; and to promote economic growth by extending the lower tax rates on dividends and capital gains.
Voted NO on permanently repealing the `death tax`.
A cloture motion ends debate and forces a vote on the issue. In this case, voting YES implies support for permanently repealing the death tax. Voting against cloture would allow further amendments. A cloture motion requires a 3/5th majority to pass. This cloture motion failed, and there was therefore no vote on repealing the death tax.
Voted NO on retaining reduced taxes on capital gains & dividends.
Vote to reduce federal spending by $56.1 billion over five years by retaining a reduced tax rate on capital gains and dividends, as well as.
Voted NO on extending the tax cuts on capital gains and dividends.
This large piece of legislation (418 pages) includes numerous provisions, generally related to extending the tax cuts initiated by President Bush. This vote was on final passage of the bill. The specific provisions include:
- Extension Of Expiring Provisions: for business expenses, retirement savings contributions, higher education expenses, new markets tax credit, and deducting state and local sales taxes.
- Provisions Relating To Charitable Donations, and Reforming Charitable Organizations
- Improved Accountability of Donor Advised Funds
- Improvements in Efficiency and Safeguards in IRS Collection
Opponents of the bill recommend voting NAY because:
- Health care for children (among many other things) should come before tax cuts for the wealthy.
- The 2-year cost of the extensions on capital gains tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans is $20 billion. So if we defer the tax break the administration is pushing for the wealthiest people in America, we would have enough money to provide basic health insurance for every uninsured child in America, and we would eliminate 20% of the uninsured Americans with that single act alone.
Proponents of the bill recommend voting YEA because:
- The largest provision in the bill–about $30 billion of tax relief–amounts to half of the net tax package and is designed to keep 14 million people out of the Alternative Minimum Tax. The AMT is terrible and should be repealed.
- College tuition benefits for families who send their kids to college — by definition, this benefit goes to middle-income families.
- The small savers’ credit — for low-income folks that save through an IRA or pension plan.
- Many small businesses use the small business expensing benefit to buy equipment on an efficient after-tax basis. It is good for small business. It is good for economic growth.

So….what is the point here? (BTW, these are from www.ontheissues.org which has all the voting records on all the issues….) I’m saying rely on the voting records to show you the history of the candidate which can help you determine their likely actions in the future. I don’t trust Obama for one split second…nor his buddy Biden who thinks raising taxes is “patriotic.” Give me a break…
“We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people,” Biden said. Of those who would pay more, he said: “It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.”
Why don’t we just direct deposit our checks to Uncle Sam and stand in line for food rations? I mean socialism has worked so well in Russia and Germany after all. You know, anyone who doesn’t believe our country is on a huge push towards socialism is–well, I’ll just say ignorant.
I’ve come to a conclusion…if Iran doesn’t get rid of us, civil war will break out. At some point this nation is headed for something…I don’t know what but the evil and the ugliness in this nation is going to be its undoing. Mark my words.
ETA: Obama is coming out with ads saying that it’s a lie about his stance on the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. But don’t be swayed…he voted 4 times against it. Again, links to his voting records are here:
http://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2008/02/links_to_barack.html These are actual links to the Illinois government site…there’s also audio on here of him saying that that “while babies might be aborted alive, it would be a “burden” to a mother’s “original decision” to assess and treat them.”
The audacity that he thinks people are as stupid as he does and won’t find out the truth…but sadly, most people don’t look for truth these days….
The “R” word….
You know one thing that really drives me up the wall is the term “the rich” when it comes to politics. Everything is for “the rich” and “the rich” get all the benefits or tax cuts, and why can’t “the rich” spare more of their dollars…. The truth is, when it comes to understanding economics, you have to put things in perspective before you can just throw around such phrases.
For instance…
Who are “the rich”? What demographic and income bracket are these folks falling in? Truly, in most instances, it depends on who you’re talking to and what they’re talking about. In some cases it’s people who make 6+ figures, in others it’s you and me (and I know we’d hardly consider ourselves “rich” in the American sense of the word..most people I know are, in some way, financially struggling) and in others, if you make more than $30,000 a year and have a family of 4 you can also be considered “rich.” It really does no good for people to throw around this term because usually it has no relevance to the situation…read on…
One thing people don’t seem to get is basic economics…and that is, when you tax “the rich” it DOES have an affect on the rest of us. How so, you say? Well, who employs you? Who pays you your paycheck? I’m sure they have more money than you do, and they probably are considered “rich” in some books. So, logic follows that if you tax those folks more, then there’s less room for hiring more people, providing more jobs, increasing salaries, bonuses…etc. etc. (I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty darn grateful that there are some “rich” folks who can employ my husband so he can provide for our family. And I’m also grateful (VERY grateful) that even when things were slow last year, they didn’t just let him go.) Now, who is to say that in a few years if they are taxed beyond their means, that won’t happen to us or to you?
Something to think about. Now I know a lot of us Christians will just throw out the “God will provide” statement…YES, He will provide, YES, He foreknows all we are to go through, and YES, He is sovereign in any and all circumstances, even those beyond our comprehension, but He also wills for us to be good stewards of our resources and (again) I believe one of our resources is our ability to vote for a good leader. (Consequently, Obama’s failure to mention any sort of balancing the budget is a HUGE issue for me….if you were to hire someone to do your bookkeeping it would be ridiculous to hire someone who wouldn’t keep your accounts balanced and in order….so likewise, I consider it an even MORE important responsibility as the President of the United States to take seriously his/her role in handling our (yours, mine, and ours) monies….at least to the best of their ability.
Another note….”rich” doesn’t mean endless supply of money….I know that’s obvious but I figured I’d state it anyway…
Case in point: and I’ll use myself for example…I’ve often thought of hiring someone to help me out with my work. Now, I am not rich as most of you know (I like to keep my Swiss bank accounts secret) and say I wanted to hire a college intern at $15 per hour. That’s not an unreasonable idea for me…but say next year and Obama is elected and taxes go up, then I have less money to work with and to pay a college intern. So $12 an hour is still pretty good you say? Hey, I don’t know what college kiddos make these days, it would’ve been good in my day, but the point is, it actually drives my business down because I have to find someone who will work for less. And business owners who have to do that end up with lower quality of product/goods/service and can’t compete with anyone else and thus you end up with small businesses shutting their doors. But Obama has a solution–as quoted by him:
“In the end, this economic agenda won’t just require new money. It will require a new spirit of cooperation and innovation on behalf of the American people. We will have to learn more, and study more, and work harder. We’ll be called upon to take part in shared sacrifice and shared prosperity.”
(By the way, this quote is in reference to his economic speech made in Wisconsin)
The problem with this for me personally (and most people I know) is that we are already working as hard as we can and for many of us, we’re still paycheck-to-paychecking it. So HOW is this going to help us? How are those of us working two or even three jobs supposed to work harder and sacrifice more? I know most of my friends are working extremely hard to take care of their families and provide…working more than one (sometimes even two) jobs, going to school at night, working nights/weekends extra….so I would personally like to know how this is to be accomplished. I’m not saying we are not wealthy in terms of the world. We are…we are the most economically fat society that has ever existed. BUT (and there’s a big but in there….) we also live in a time where things (food, gas, clothing) have adjusted them to a means that meets up to our economy as well….hence why most people really struggle to live off one income and have the mom stay at home.
This is why this line of thinking hurts small businesses.. For all the preaching Democrats (or rather liberals) do about how bad large corporations are (just thought of something…large corporations are bad but large government isn’t…??? another strange dichotomy…) they sure don’t do anything to help small businesses! And I truly believe that small businesses are what has made our country so great…because you’re taking people and their ideas and innovation and giving them room to grow and blossom their dreams into things that can help the world. Maybe I’m an idealist, but it’s proven true in our country’s history this far….why do we want to ruin it? Why do we want to hurt that? It’s helped in our advancement of medicine, technology, science…you name it and it has helped the world over. When man is free to pursue what God has uniquely gifted him/her to do, amazing things…miracles…happen! At least this is my opinion. And when you relegate everyone to the same playing field and say “you are no different than anybody else” (in the sense of uniqueness in God’s eyes and uniqueness in personality/talents/even in the Body of Christ…not in the sense of being better than someone…obviously no one is better than anyone else) then you squelch that spirit.
I believe that freedom comes when people are free. And this is what the Founding Fathers believed as well…the colonists, those that came over to a new country and risked their lives to BE free….this was the purpose of America.
The secular world (or rather the socialist world I should say) looks at wealth as an evil…but if that’s so then where would our country (and even the world) be? France would be speaking German for one, and I could mention a whole host of other things that would be. Also, does not God USE all things for His glory? Does this not mean wealth as well? I think some Christians have fallen into a trap of socialist thinking that has left them feeling guilty about having something (ANYTHING) that someone else does not have… But think about all the ministries and missionaries that exist and are supported by people with their money. Yes, I will say that I think the church in large part has forgotten some of its responsibilities, but that doesn’t negate the fact that there are tens of hundreds of amazing organizations that have radically changed peoples lives the world over that simply would cease to exist if it weren’t for the generous gifts and donations of “the rich” (and the not so rich you know!) Again, I am NOT saying that as a church we are doing enough…in fact I think a large part of why people are so accepting of the idea of government handling things is BECAUSE of the church’s failure to do so and the failure of its people (us) who are called to minister to others and their physical needs particularly. BUT this does not mean that because of the church’s failure it’s right to give the responsibility to the government. IMO that’s the “easy way out” and not what the Lord would have us do…just my opinion but I really do believe that. Plus, I do believe it’s just plain wrong to give people more power with other people’s money against their will (ex.. taxes for things like, oh heck…well I’m sure you can think of something, there’s so many to choose from) It’s downright theft.
Anyhow….just some thoughts for the day. I tell you what, I’ve got 6 posts drafted already and my brain just won’t quit. I need to find a way to organize my thoughts though…otherwise I’ll drive myself (and you) crazy!
Oh one last note to finish up–a little tidbit of sorts for ya…another strange dichotomy…(I think I’m going to have to start a new category just for these) Democrats.org touts Thomas Jefferson as their leader….and you know what, the guy was a firm states’ rights supporter. He was not supportive of big government in the least and was afraid of government’s potential for tyrannical rule. How ironic that the party OF big government holds him up as their icon…
Another quick little note….someone mentioned to me that they thought my previous post (one of them–didn’t say which one) sounded condescending. Now most of you know me and know that I do not try to be condescending in any way or manner when it comes to this because that is not my heart in this. (Truth be told I do think most people could stand a few history lessons, but the reason I am posting about this is because I am so passionate about it and about the body of Christ knowing what is going on in our nation.) I will not try and coddle anyone (and as another person pointed out to me, people complain because the grass is green) and I don’t promise to not be controversial to some of you, but like I said before, I will not put anyone down because of their beliefs…particularly if they are held with conviction and passion…and not just some You-Tube-media-gotten sound-byte, sounds good to me idea. (That last part I’m particular about..tee hee….I make all disclaimer to poke fun at you if you don’t know what you’re talking about!)
Kidding…
SO! Take that for what you will, I read and re-read my posts several times before publishing them and neither I nor my husband thought it condescending, and so I don’t feel I have anything to apologize for, but I just want those of you to know who may be reading this and quick to the offense…this is not personal. That is why I’m posting this on a blog…so no one can take it personally. I know I may not be very popular with some of you in writing this, and that’s okay! I am doing what I feel has been put on my heart and led to do and if the only thing I get out of this is more education for myself and my children, then amen brother! All the better –I just strongly believe in the importance of the truth having light shed upon it and while I may get carried away, bear with me, I do have a point to make…)
Anyhoo….and now I’m saying goodnight!
