I just thought I would mention this stat…

September 22, 2008 at 11:39 am (Abortion Issues)

There have been approximately 36.5 million abortions since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized unrestricted abortion on January 22, 1973. (Center for Disease Control)

36.5 MILLION?????  That’s an entire generation….gone….also from the CDC:

In 1998, a total of 884,273 legal abortions were reported to CDC. These data were compiled from 48 reporting areas (Alaska, California, New Hampshire, and Oklahoma did not report data in 1998.) In 1997, a total of 1,186,039 legal abortions were reported to CDC. These data were compiled from 52 reporting areas. Most of the decrease in total number of abortions between 1997 and 1998 is due to the fact that California was not included in the 1998 report.

Words fail me.

I’m Baaack!

September 10, 2008 at 2:31 pm (Abortion Issues)

Sent this in an email to almost everyone I know….

Let me put it this way….whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, PLEASE read this email….

Is rescuing a baby from a failed abortion job too “cumbersome” to do?  According to Barack Obama, it is.  I strongly urge you to read Jill Stanek and Allison Baker’s official statements, both former nurses at Christ Hospital in Illinois who (in 1999) found babies “shelved” in a utility room who were ALIVE but left to die after failed abortions.  (For example, one of them held a Down’s Syndrome baby for 45 minutes after a failed abortion until he died.)  It was this tragic and disgusting act that propelled Jill in particular into the pro-life movement, and prompted an Illinois lawmaker to draft the state’s Born Alive Infant Protection Act in 2001.

You can read the official statements here:  (very sad)

http://www.priestsforlife.org/testimony/stanekbakercongress.htm

At any rate, please look for yourself and see how Obama has voted on this issue.  Yes, I’ve heard his response (as well as his comments in the Saddleback Church interview, which grieved me) but the facts of how he has voted tell the true story…

(First off, before I post the links, this was in an article written by Jill Stanek on http://www.citizenlink.org/CLtopstories/A000007034.cfm )  It talks about Obama’s very own manipulation of BAIPA itself–http://minx.cc/?post=270884

You guys….
Even the pro-choice friends that I have had throughout my life would consider such atrocities like this as cruel and inhuman acts of injustice.  How anyone can claim to be a Christian and stand in the path that he does in regards to this is BEYOND ME.  I can’t even fathom how anyone could allow such a thing to happen, much less vote to allow it to happen.  And yet, I’ve heard of more and more Christians who have favored Obama throughout this campaign.  First off, economic and foreign policies aside, how can someone who claims Jesus Christ as their Savior, willingly put someone with his voting record on this issue alone into such a prestigious role of office?  It’s not just sad, it’s disgusting.  And it’s not just about abortion either!

The more I have read about this, the more I have been greatly grieved (GREATLY grieved) about the blatant disregard for human life and the support of Christians of a man who apparently does not value human life either.  Not just does he stand on the wrong side of the abortion issue AND the partial birth abortion issue (In February 2004, his wife, Michelle, sent out a fundraising letter, which actually stated her concern over the rise of conservatism in the Country, and that the ’so-called’ partial-birth abortion was a legitimate medical procedure that should be protected) but his stance on BAIPA is just as tragic.

Before I post the voting record, consider the following as well (because, like I said, I realize it’s not just about abortion….)

Barack Obama voted “no” on HB-1812, a 1999 bill that required the State Board of Education to make report cards on school performance available on the internet. The bill also directed schools to equip computers with software to prevent minors from gaining access to sexually explicit material on the internet. [1]
HB1812; Amends the School Code; 91st General Assembly; 05/13/99, Obama Vote: No.

Barack Obama failed to support SB-759 in 1999, which mandated adult prosecution for minors (of at least 15 years of age) for discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of schools. [2]
SB0759; Amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987; 91st General Assembly; 05/25/99, Obama Vote: Present.

He also failed to support SB-609 in 2001, which would have banned adult entertainment establishments from setting up shop within 500 feet of schools or churches, and he promoted SB-99, mandatory sex education for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. [3] [4]

  • SB0609; Creates the Adult Uses Location Restriction Act; 92nd General Assembly; 05/29/01, Obama Vote: Present.
  • SB0099; Amends School Code & Critical Health Problems/Comprehensive Health Ed. Act; 93rd General Assemb

I’m sorry, but as a mother and a concerned citizen of this country, I can NOT see how a supposedly Christian nation (which is arguable, at best) could in good conscience, put a man such as this into position of our Commander in Chief.  It almost physically hurts me to think about it.  And I have been lax in writing on my blog and putting stuff out there, but I’m going to be BACK.  You know, I have not been a fan of McCain, which is why I haven’t written much on the blog.  But folks, you really need to take a look at Sarah Palin and what she stands for.  Regardless of what the media tells you (honestly, I’ve all but given up on them…I rely on finding actual quotes and video and voting records online, and I HOPE you do too…) you need to see for yourself what has gone on.  I’m going to be trying to post more about her in the near future and will send out updates on it…

Honestly…as a mother of two boys, I can’t even fathom sending them to a school that Obama has decided such things on (one person online described hims as a “pervert’s friend:http://forums.ktla.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2651096394/m/9461083655 and I gotta say, I think the nail pretty much was hit on the head!)

The above bills would negate what happened at Columbine in Littleton (SB-759) had those boys not committed suicide…

They negate allowing parents to teach their children about sex (I’m sorry but I don’t trust the government or the public school system ONE IOTA with teaching my children “age-appropriate” sex education…not to 5 -year olds!  For those of you who don’t yet have kids, you’ll see what I mean some day!)

They also negate any type of protection you want to have for your children with access to certain material online.  Never mind if they can’t get it at home, they’ll go to the school library, right? Or on the way home as they walk past a sex shop next door to the school….

Now that I’m going to go puke, here are the links for the voting record I mentioned earlier….

BOTTOM LINE:  WHY would you vote for Obama?  WHY, WHY, WHY?

I’ve got more dirt I’ll be posting on my blog….

And as a final note…This article is just absolutely heartbreakingly tragic….I hope you read it and consider the stakes of our nation and our children, particularly those with special needs such as Down’s Syndrome…..

    Okay, now for the links:

Obama’s “no” vote on the IL Senate floor, April 4, 2002

Listen to audio from Obama’s 2002 IL Senate floor debate wherein he argued that while babies might be aborted alive, it would be a “burden” to a mother’s “original decision” to assess and treat them.

Meanwhile, the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act with a “neutrality clause” added passed the U.S. Senate 98-0, the U.S. House overwhelmingly, and was signed into law August 5, 2002. The pro-abortion group NARAL expressed neutrality on the bill.
    2003

Senate Bill 1082, Born Alive Infant Protection Act

Democrats took control of the IL Senate with the 2002 elections. This year Born Alive was sent to the Health & Human Services Committee, chaired by Barack Obama.

As can be seen on the vote docket, Obama first voted to amend SB1082 to add the “neutrality clause” from the federal version of Born Alive to the IL version to make them absolutely identical. (DP#1 means “Do Pass Amendment #1.)

Then Obama voted against the identical version. (DPA means, “Do Pass as Amended.)

Additional corroboration of Obama’s vote: IL State Senate Republican Staff Analysis of SB 1082, March 12-13, 2003, bottom of page 2

For 4 years following his 2003 vote Obama misrepresented it, stating the wording of the IL version of Born Alive was not the same as the federal version, and he would have voted for it if so. As recently as August 16, 2008 Obama made this false assertion.

But when evidence presented was irrefutable, Obama’s campaign on August 18, 2008, admitted the truth to the New York Sun.

The nonpartison group FactCheck.org has since corroborated Obama voted against identical legislation as passed overwhelmingly on the federal level and then misrepresented his vote.
